Creating Dream Jobs – Liza’s Story
Liza’s various executive level jobs and careers have in many ways been the result of putting her own plan into action. Prior to becoming Vice President of Sales and Recruiting at Wells Fargo, she was driven to realize her dream of one day working in a managerial position in which she would be able to use her foreign language training, not to mention enjoy the benefits of a high salary, an environment in which she could network and one that also challenged her while still allowing her to have fun.
Craft Your Own Job Description
She crafted a list. Containing twenty-five items, this list represented her dream career, which was several levels higher than what she was doing at the time. When the Wells Fargo opportunity came along, initially she thought it a mistake that they’d offered her the position. Many were more qualified, and yet they’d chosen her for this key position. The date on the contract she ultimately signed was the exact same date as the one she’d put at the top of her ‘dream job list.’ She got 24.5 items out of 25 she listed, including six weeks’ vacation. She was elated, not only because it was her dream job, but because she really felt that she created it… And if she could do this, then you can just imagine, what else was possible!
Envision Yourself Working at Your Ideal Company!
This is how she later envisioned the Global Training Consultant position at IBM. This time the list consisted of the top industries for which she’d like to work, the major companies for whom she’d like to work, and the titles she’d like to hold. A year later she generated this list of ideals, IBM came calling. Lo and behold, she realized that it was indeed the industry, the company and the job she had created that day on an Excel spreadsheet. IBM was number one on the list of over 30 companies she identified.
Creating a Business You Love: From Dream to Reality
Wanting to build on the momentum she gained from these positions, Liza then sought to become a life, career, and executive coach. Applying career coaching exercises to her own life, she began working on her future vision. And the opportunities, as before, came rolling in. From owning Mars and Venus coaching franchise, to working as Tony Robbins Results coach, to forming her own Coaching and Training company, she has established herself as a coach and trainer who creates her own dreams and helps others create what they really want.
